Enlarged image of the poem below as Xieyi
Verse 14
▶Original Text
無根樹,花正遲, 春去秋來尚含枝。 不因風雨移心志, 只待來年發嫩枝。
▶Modern Translation
A slow flower opens on a rootless tree;
Spring departs, autumn arrives, yet buds still cling.
Storms cannot shift its silent intent—
It waits for next year to send out tender shoots.
▶Interpretation
1.[無根樹,花正遲] Late blooming = gradual ripening.
2.[春去秋來尚含枝] Vitality endures across seasons.
3.[不因風雨移心志] Wind and rain do not change its resolve.
4.[只待來年發嫩枝] Patience until the right moment to grow anew.
▶Interpretation related to Tai Chi
•Real skill matures slowly beneath the surface.
•Store qi through seasons; reveal it when time is ripe.
•Steadfast intention amid outer change.
