Enlarged image of the poem below as Xieyi
Verse 36
▶Original Text
▶Modern Translation
An autumn-hued flower blooms on the rootless tree;
Ripples of water shimmer with drifting light and shade.
Yin and yang give birth unending; qi forever transforms.
Ever acting, ever forgetting, the heart clings to nothing.
▶Interpretation
Autumn = maturity and impermanence.
Fluid reflections mirror shifting mind.
Ceaseless yin–yang rotation.
Do yet forget; hold to no residue.
▶Interpretation related to Tai Chi
•Understand constant change; adapt without fixation.
•Movement like rippling water—soft yet alive.
•Master yin–yang transmutation in offence and defence.
•Let go of technique after execution—remain empty.
